It is Raining „Design Awards“ for the Solar Machine
The line manufacturer Robert Bürkle GmbH in Freudenstadt receives the „Red Dot Design Award“ and the „Good Design Award“ for the Ypsator.
German companies are world leaders as regards the awards for product design. The latest example is the multi-opening laminator Ypsator onto which the Black Forest press manufacturer produces solar modules. The covering in sunny yellow, designed by the industrial designer Jürgen R. Schmid, wins the Good Design Award 2008 and den Red Dot Design Award in 2009 for the solar machine.
At the end of last year, the Ypsator won the iF Award 2009 from the Design Center Hanover.
Above all, the bright and yellow covering of the Ypsator received the international awards. Not only the design, but also the technology of the line was examinated by the Good-Design jury. The categories sustainability, creativity, brand development, ecologically valuable design and practical factors such as accessibility, packing, material as well as graphics were evaluated. The interaction of function and aesthetics together with an up-to-date focus on ecological interests are decisive according to the good design jury. The design should generate a highly official identification and product consistency: The yellow color immediately suggests the function of the Ypsator: It is a matter of solar energy. The judgement of the jury for the multi-opening laminator is the following: “Piece by piece the industrial machine is exceptional as regards the weight, size, dimension and comprehensive design”.
500 awardees from 34 countries came to the Chicago museum „Athenaeum“ to celebrate the Good Design Award. Founded in 1950, it is the oldest design award worldwide. Since the prize had been granted, German companies have won the most awards (namely 310) after the USA.
The Red Dot Award takes place on 29th June on a former coal mine in Essen.
24 jury members have selected the winners of more than 3200 products from 1400 companies of 49 nations. The Ypsator wins in one of the 16 categories.
